Long Tail
Every question has plenty of right answers. Give one that hardly anyone else would think of: the rarer it is, the less it adds to your score, and the lowest total wins.
How scoring works
- Every right answer has a score: how many people out of 100 would give it.
- That number goes on your total. A wrong answer, a pass or running out of time adds 100.
- Lowest total wins. A right answer almost nobody would give scores 0.
- On one device, players take turns, and a right answer someone has already given is off limits. Once every right answer has been given, you can repeat one for 10 more, up to 100.
- Online, everyone answers at the same time. If someone gave the same right answer before you, yours costs 10 more, up to 100.
The out-of-100 figures are estimates, not results from a real survey. The answer lists are checked against sources such as IUPAC, the IAU, NASA, the WMO, the IUCN and sports' governing bodies, and each board links the sources used.
Small typos are forgiven. If an answer is too vague to judge, such as "black bear" when two species qualify, you get another go with no penalty.
